LAPP India, a leader in cable and connectivity solutions, has appointed Sumit Mitra as Managing Director, effective November 1, 2024. Sumit brings over 30 years of experience in the industrial sector, with a focus on operational excellence and market expansion. He previously held key positions, including his recent role at SKF Group, where he was instrumental in growth initiatives across Indian and multinational enterprises.
Reporting to Richard Lee, CEO of LAPP Asia Pacific, Sumit will lead LAPP India’s strategy to strengthen its market presence and introduce cutting-edge connectivity solutions tailored to India’s industrial needs. Lee expressed enthusiasm for Sumit’s appointment, noting, “India is our largest market outside Germany, with significant growth potential. Sumit’s vision and expertise will be vital to our expansion.”
In his new role, Sumit will prioritize expanding LAPP India’s product portfolio, enhancing operational efficiency, and introducing industry-first technologies to address complex challenges in sectors like automotive, energy, and infrastructure. Sumit shared his enthusiasm, stating, “India’s economic growth presents immense opportunities for LAPP. I am excited to harness these to drive innovation and profitable growth.”
Sumit holds a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Pune University and an MBA from IIM-Calcutta, bringing both technical expertise and a people-centric approach to LAPP India’s leadership team.
