Red Lion, a leader in industrial automation technology, has unveiled its latest innovation, the N-Tron® NT116, a 16-port unmanaged industrial Ethernet switch designed to support mission-critical operations in demanding environments. This new offering is set to significantly benefit the manufacturing industry by enhancing data acquisition, process control, and Ethernet I/O in harsh conditions.
The NT116 switch is engineered for reliability and high performance, making it ideal for applications that require consistent and robust network support. With 16 high-performance copper ports (10/100BaseTX RJ45) housed in a rugged metal enclosure, the NT116 is built to endure extreme conditions, including temperatures ranging from -40°C to 85°C. The switch’s durability is further enhanced by its high shock and vibration tolerance, as well as built-in ESD and surge protection on all ports. Additionally, its impressive 1.2 million-hour MTBF rating ensures long-term, reliable operation.
Supporting full wire-speed communications with a throughput of up to 3.2 Gb/s, the NT116 uses store-and-forward technology and supports both full and half-duplex operation. It also features dual 10-49 VDC power inputs for redundancy, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous operation.
For manufacturers, the NT116 is a crucial tool that enhances network resilience and data accessibility, leading to improved efficiency and operational performance. Its certifications for hazardous locations, including UL, ATEX, and IECEx, make it versatile for use across various industries such as oil and gas, utilities, wastewater treatment, and transportation.
“The NT116 minimizes downtime and maximizes throughput, enabling industrial operators to derive greater value from their data,” said Diane Davis, Product Manager at Red Lion. This innovation represents a significant step forward in industrial networking, promising to drive efficiency and reliability in critical manufacturing operations.
